In recognition of the industry’s first sliding flush wood doors to achieve a 45-minute UL 10B fire rating, the Architectural Products magazine “Product Innovation Awards” named FireSlide among this year’s winners.
A panel of 14 independent industry professionals selected the winners of the “Product Innovation Awards” to showcase the products they deemed worth investigating. “Building on the success of last year’s program, our ninth edition of the awards proves commercial building manufacturers are committed to, and are working arduously toward, delivering more sustainable products, as well as products that deliver better performance, life and affordability,” Jim Crockett, editorial director for Architectural Products, said.
The groundbreaking FireSlide doors deliver on both form and functionality. While providing the beautiful, modern look of interior wood sliding doors, the fire-rated system enables architects to meet commercial buildings’ stringent fire- and life-safety requirements. In addition, the surface-mounted, top-hung single-leaf doors contribute to significant space-savings in rooms and corridors by eliminating a door’s swing path, further aligning with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
The fire-rated sliding doors include self-closing mechanisms and self-latching hardware, as well as acoustic seals on three sides to meet privacy needs and reduce noise transfer.
